ESC The European Solidarity Corps is the new European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe. The European Solidarity Corps brings together young people to build a more inclusive society, supporting vulnerable people and responding to societal challenges. It offers an inspiring and empowering experience for young people who want to help, learn and develop!
Definition of volunteering Undertaken of a person’s own free will and involves the commitment of time and energy to actions that benefit others and society as a whole;Unpaid (although it can involve reimbursement of expenses directly related to the activity) for a non-profit cause, primarily undertaken within a nongovernmental organisation, and thus clearly isn't motivated by material or financial gain; Not used to substitute or replace paid employment.
Types of activities offered by ESC are as follows; - Individual Volunteering (short and long term) - Volunteering teams (cross borders and which are usually short terms) - Solidarity Projects (at National level and is usually implemented by a minimum of 5 youngsters)
